Guildford Heritage Walk Trail

Guildford's heritage trails are a set of level circuits through one of Perth's oldest towns, starting from the Swan Valley Visitor Centre in the old courthouse. Dogs are welcome on lead, with one exception worth knowing before you set out.

Leads and the no-dog square

City of Swan rules keep dogs on a lead through the streets and reserves on these walks. Dogs are not allowed in Stirling Square, so leave that circuit out when the dog is with you.

The walk

The trails include the River Ramble, the Town Walk and the Captain Stirling Walk. Paths are mostly concrete footpath and asphalt, level throughout, past colonial and convict-built buildings with panels telling the early settlement story.

The River Ramble runs close to the Swan River, where big old trees give good shade and the birdlife is busy. The open street sections get more sun.

Getting started

Parking, including accessible bays, is by the Visitor Centre. Bins are easy to find around town and there are fountains near the civic hubs, but carry a bowl for the longer river stretch.

Guildford has dog-friendly stops close to the trails, including The Lounge Room On James and Padbury's Cafe Restaurant.

Level and paved, these walks suit older dogs, and the shaded river loop is the pick on a warm day.
