Bulleen Park

With open sports ovals on one side and the Yarra River on the other, Bulleen Park gives dogs designated off-lead room plus a quieter on-lead path toward the Bolin Bolin Billabong. Manningham City Council manages the park at 189 Bulleen Road.

Leads and the off-lead area

Dogs can run off lead in the park's designated areas, as long as they stay under effective control. Keep them at least 15 metres from children's play equipment, permanent barbecues and any sporting event in progress.

The tracks near the river and the billabong are sensitive environmental areas, and dogs must be on a lead there.

The walk

Paths are a mix of unsealed gravel and natural earth, running past the ovals and native planting toward the river. Mature trees along the edges give some shade, but the fields themselves are open.

Parking is spread across several car parks serving the ovals and clubrooms, with bins near the pavilion. Carry water, as the fountains with dog bowls are in the wider precinct rather than out on the tracks.

A sports upgrade and North East Link works have been under way here, so be ready for the odd detour.

For a fenced run, Banksia Park Fenced Dog Park is close by, and the Banyule Flats Reserve Loop makes a good second walk.

When to go

Check the fields for fixtures before letting the dog off, since the 15 metre buffer applies whenever a game is on. Energetic dogs that like room to stretch out get the most from it.
