Mihi Junction Reserve

The Mihi Creek corridor, better known as Mihi Junction Reserve, runs down through Brassall and North Ipswich to where Mihi Creek meets the Bremer River. Dogs walk it on lead, among the relics of Queensland's first main line railway.

Lead rules

Ipswich City Council allows dogs on lead along the shared paths and through the reserve.

The walk

The Brassall Bikeway brings a wide concrete path into the reserve. Off it are dirt mountain bike tracks and mown grass, sloping down past old railway embankments and the remains of coke works to the creek junction.

Creek-side trees give good shade, while the open sections are in full sun. The main access and parking are at Haig Street, where there are bins, but carry water for the dog.

Max: Riders use the dirt tracks here. Keep your dog close on the bends and step aside for bikes.

When to go

Cooler mornings suit the open sections best. The concrete bikeway is the easy option for older dogs, and the dirt tracks give more to sniff for a dog that is steady around bikes.
