Heyfield RV Park

Heyfield RV Park is a donation-based rest stop on Clark Street in Heyfield, Gippsland, next to the sportsground oval and an easy walk from the main street. It is a no-fuss 48-hour stop that welcomes dogs, which makes it a practical overnight base for travellers with a dog heading through to the high country or the coast.

Dogs are welcome on the grounds, kept leashed or contained within your site. Waste bags are provided and there is no published size limit or pet fee. Your dog stays with you in your own van or motorhome rather than in a room, and the flat grassy sites plus the adjacent oval give plenty of room for a leashed leg-stretch. The town's quiet streets and the Thomson River nearby round out the walking options.

Pepsi: a donation stop only stays nice if everyone chips in and cleans up. Bring bags, use the bins, and the next dog gets the same tidy grassy patch.

The campground

This is a community-run stop rather than a caravan park: clean toilets, coin-operated hot showers, a dump point, coin-operated power for devices and a communal shelter with a book exchange, all kept going by donations. There is no camp kitchen or pool, so treat it as a one or two night stopover. Confirm current site rules on arrival, since donation-based rest stops can change conditions with little notice.

Getting there and parking

The stop sits on Clark Street near McFarlane Street, off the main road through Heyfield, about 25 minutes from Maffra and Sale. Sites are flat and grassed, and the shops, supermarket and pub are all within walking distance.
