Eureka Stockade Holiday Park

Eureka Stockade Holiday Park is a family-run park at 104 Stawell Street South, Eureka, on Ballarat's southern edge, sitting right beside the historic Eureka Stockade reserve with its morning walking tracks at the gate. Dogs are genuinely catered for: they are welcome on powered and ensuite sites year round, and there is even a designated dog-friendly cabin, all subject to a phone-ahead approval process.

Only dogs are permitted, not other pets, and you sign a park dog rules agreement at check-in. Inside the park, dogs stay leashed and 100 percent supervised whenever they are outside your accommodation, with waste picked up immediately, and noisy or aggressive dogs are not accepted. The pet-friendly option among the cabins is the 1-bedroom standard cabin with external bathroom; every other cabin, including the luxury ones, is strictly pet-free. Pet fees may apply, so confirm them on the call.

The park offers gravel and grass powered sites including drive-through options and concrete slabs, plus cabins with fully equipped kitchens that reviewers describe as clean and comfortable. Facilities include a games room, mini golf, camp kitchen, laundry and free parking next to cabins. The tone is quiet and unresort-like, which suits travellers who want Ballarat on the doorstep without a big park around them.

Out and about with the dog

The Eureka Stockade reserve next door is on leash, but it is a lovely on-lead walk past the monument and the Pikeman's Dog memorial, which feels fitting for a dog trip. Ballarat city centre is 2 kilometres away. For proper off-leash time, Pennyweight Park fenced dog park in Ballarat East is the closest of the council's fenced parks, and Sebastopol dog park is another option to the south.
