Whyalla Fenced Dog Park

Whyalla Fenced Dog Park on Searle Street, just south of Civic Park, is a large fully fenced off-leash area with a separate smaller section for older, smaller or more timid dogs, the go-to spot in Whyalla Norrie for a proper run.

The rules. Dogs can run off-leash inside the fenced area only, and must stay under effective voice control. Owners are required to pick up waste immediately, bins are provided. Watch aggressive behaviour closely in the smaller shared section where timid dogs are mixing it with everyone else.

What's there. A well-maintained grass area with shaded spots, water stations, seating for owners, some agility equipment, and a secure fenced perimeter with wheelchair-accessible gates and parking.

Getting there. 40 Searle Street, Whyalla Norrie, immediately south of Civic Park. Wheelchair-accessible parking is on site; there is no direct public transport link, so most visitors drive or taxi in.

Nearby with the dogs. Whyalla Skysuites is about 150 metres north, and Sundowner Motel & Cabin Park roughly 1.8 kilometres southwest, both pet-friendly for an overnight stay. Woolworths Whyalla is within 200 metres for supplies.

Quiet times are Sunday, Monday and Tuesday nights, and Saturday nights, so head down then for a calmer run. Whyalla's foreshore beaches also allow off-leash time outside peak hours, generally before 8am and after 6pm in winter, or after 9pm in summer, worth combining with a park visit if you are making a day of it.
