Suncoast Fenced Dog Park is a fully fenced off-leash area on Tinderbox Road in Blackmans Bay, with sea views, open grass and a dedicated agility corner. It is council-maintained and a solid pick if you want your dog properly off-lead without watching for traffic or unleashed strangers.

  • The rules. Dogs must stay under effective control even though the area is fenced. Close the gate securely behind you when entering and leaving. Kingborough Council's dog management policy applies on-site, so check current signage for any breed or behaviour restrictions.
  • What's there. A water tank for dogs (can run low in dry weather, so bring a backup bowl), poo bag dispensers and bins, an agility table and weaving poles, and two bench seats for owners. The ground is open grass with some trees for shade.
  • Getting there. The park sits along Tinderbox Road, turn in just after Suncoast Drive, past the Scout Hut. There's parking on the access road, and the Suncoast Walking Track also connects in on foot.
  • Nearby with the dogs. Blackmans Bay Beach is close by and has its own seasonal leash rules, worth checking with the council before you go. The Beach House on Ocean Esplanade has outdoor seating that welcomes dogs if you want food afterwards.

Fenced doesn't mean off-duty. Keep an eye on the gate latch and don't assume every dog inside is friendly before you let yours off-lead.

Weekday mornings are quieter if your dog needs space; weekends and the 4pm to 6pm window tend to draw a crowd of regulars.
